A celebration of Karangahape Road and Matariki 2021

100 Artists — Dancers, digital and vinyl DJs, singers, drummers, live street art, light art, theatre, and an opening ceremony.

60 Events — Live window installations, print show, Māori Mākete, Matariki Hub, bodypaint show, drag art performance, and boil up.

7 Stages — Created on the wide pavements and on temporary constructions. With 22 acts spanning genres, generations and styles.

5 Hours — Around 20,000 people visited Karangahape Road for the event. Now everyone is asking if it can be annual.

The Karangahape Road Business Association is funded by the 450 businesses trading within the Karangahape Road precinct in Auckland, New Zealand. This Needs Doing has an ongoing contract with the KBA to foster the area's economic development by delivering a comprehensive marketing strategy and programme of public events. This street party, named Te Karanga a Hape is now an annual event celebrating Matariki, the Māori new year. The association works in partnership with Auckland Council's city-wide Business Improvement Plan.
